Maricarmen López is a sought-after television producer with over 15 years of experience, known for crafting impactful, culture-forward content. She has produced for a diverse roster of talent, including actress Meagan Good, business mogul Marcus Lemonis, and Hip-Hop icon Fat Joe. Her projects have spanned major platforms such as VH1, MTV, BET, WETV, OWN, FOX, Starz, Facebook Watch, and Netflix.

As a former Executive Producer at Paramount Global, MC played a key role in the reboot of VH1’s Black Ink Crew: Compton, which later rebranded as Black Ink Crew: LA. She also led the relaunch of the hit series Caught in the Act: Unfaithful after the show transitioned to MTV following BET Media Group’s acquisition of VH1. This transition was part of a broader restructuring of Paramount Global’s operations.

MC’s relationship with Paramount Global and its affiliated divisions dates back over 13 years to the early days of its #1 franchise Love & Hip Hop, where she played an essential role after joining the production team during its first season under Mona Scott-Young’s company, Monami Entertainment. She was instrumental in growing the show from a small first-season production into a long-running cultural phenomenon, notably helping to launch Cardi B’s television career. MC contributed significantly to the franchise’s expansion across New York, Atlanta, and Hollywood, but she took a special interest in Love & Hip Hop: Miami, where she led its development and oversaw the first two seasons. Her work on the Miami series was particularly groundbreaking, as she brought Afro-Latinx narratives to the forefront, sparking discussions that permeated pop culture. Recognizing her expertise, Paramount Global later hired her to consult on additional network-branded projects.

MC’s journey in entertainment began in the music industry with an internship at Slip-N-Slide Records, a renowned independent label that played a pivotal role in launching the careers of several South Florida Hip-Hop artists. She quickly distinguished herself within the company, working on major projects and eventually leading the management division, where she was instrumental in overseeing R&B group Jagged Edge during their all-encompassing deal with the label. Additionally, she was a core team member for Hip-Hop legend Slick Rick for over a decade. Beyond artist management, she expanded her expertise by consulting on and producing live concerts and events across the country. Her first opportunity in film came when she worked as an assistant on the independent movie Percentage, produced by Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Studios.

MC’s passion for the arts is deeply personal. She began her journey as a performing artist and later working alongside her mother, who founded Algo Nuevo, an award-winning Cuban traditional band that has been active since 1994 and continues to perform today. She remains connected to her musical roots through her service as Vice President of the Algo Nuevo Foundation, where she takes pride in helping her mother provide music therapy for senior citizens in their hometown of Miami.

MC’s journey in entertainment has always been about pushing boundaries, whether in television, music, or cultural representation. She continues to use storytelling as a tool for empowerment and change, ensuring that untapped voices have a place in mainstream media, both in front of and behind the lens.
